Brandon is a former Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Division, Commercial Litigation Branch, International Trade Field Office, where he represented the United States (including U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Office of the United States Trade Representative) in commercial and trade/customs litigation at the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York, as well as in appeals at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. His cases involved the classification and valuation of imports, presidential proclamations, tariffs, exclusions, international treaties, trade agreements, and investigations involving transshipment, customs evasion, and duty collection actions.
Brandon has significant experience in all aspects of commercial litigation, including pleadings, motions, oral argument, negotiating settlements, trial, appeals, and discovery such as requests for production, subpoenas, and depositions of fact and expert witnesses. Specific commercial areas of expertise include raw materials, manufacturing, assembly, supply chains, financing, transportation, marketing, sales, and testing, in various types of industries such as agriculture, automotive, biochemical, electronics, engineering, food, medicine, mining, retail, technology, textiles, etc. Brandon has worked with all sides in civil litigation, including clerking for judges, prosecuting for the government, and representing private parties, which gives him an advantage in devising litigation strategy. Other areas of experience include arbitration, contracts, torts, immigration, and international law.
Admitted to the bars of California, New York, and the District of Columbia, Brandon capitalizes on his multilingualism as a native Spanish speaker (holding dual U.S./Mexico citizenship) fluent in French and conversational in Portuguese, Italian, and Arabic, which allows him to effectively serve a diverse clientele. Brandon further enhances his legal practice by integrating his expertise in international politics and business with his considerable experience living overseas, including in Mexico, Brazil, Lebanon, South Africa, New Zealand, and Thailand.
In his free time, Brandon enjoys traveling and exploring new destinations, and is always eager to chat about travel experiences.
